totally into all the footwear RealityStudio puts out: and these are perfect.
Totally into all of NIKE’s crafty shoes that invoke knitting, weaving and all sorts of traditional techniques while being cool and innovative.
The Flyknit Lunar 1+ is my favorite.
The Roshe is pretty cool.
and the inneva is lovely, too!
As far as mega trends go I love the heritage thing. We all do, mostly because guys have been dressing like men and have looked totally handsome for the past couple years.
When we visited LLBean’s flagship store, I was avoiding the accessories, because I’d just had some simple bags handmade and really didn’t need to buy another duffle or tote or purse or anything. And, while I totally love and respect the Signature collection for women, it’s just not for me. The men’s collection, though, is fantastic.
So. I’m calling the shoe of the season for menfolk.
It’s this one.
My friend Kristen got really cute platform sneakers from Chloe Sevigny at Opening Ceremony. I’m walking Booker to and fro the studio most days, which means I’ve been wearing either my Chukka boots or a pair of cutoff vintage boots I made….hit top platform sneakers would still be comfy but add a little insouciance to my walk:)
first up: the simple white ones at Opening Ceremony ($265, made in China)
and this fun pair from Vans
I’ll be giving a talk about ethical and sustainable design at the Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert this Thursday. I’ll be talking about working close to home, making what I consider to be the “right” choices in producing clothing, and about where I think the industry is heading. Calleen Cordero will also be speaking, and I’m looking forward to her take on everything, especially as she produces everything in her own factory in North Hollywood.
Here are some of my favorites of her new shoes.
