of the new curatorial shoot…

thanks to vanessa to sending over photographer Ari Versluis and profiler Ellie Uyttenbroek’s long term project exploring street wear and identity….

does that mean that tomorrow, at a college somewhere in the US, is Chuck Bass Day?
after doing a couple perfunctory google searches, i found no such event. However, quoth Eric Daman, the Gossip Girl costume designer….on dressing Chuck Bass:
“Bass goes beyond my personal style, I wish I had the money and youth to carry off his looks. It’s just un rêve (a dream) to dress a womanizing straight boy in such dandy apparel. I’ve read blogs from different colleges that actually have Chuck Bass Fridays. There is a whole movement behind him and his wardrobe which is sooo gratifying because, lets face it, men really should dress better. There is no one favourite look, I just try to keep him up to par each episode, which is no easy task.”
as a related side note: when chuck was sighing about the comments his father used to make to him, the “why do you have to wear so much purple,” issued in a sigh-whisper was probably the best line I’ve heard in a really, really long time.
I love the look of handpainted dresses, even when its very thick, not-really-for-textiles paint.
I’ve made a couple in the past and they kinda stick out from the body in a really fun way.
Ali sent over this great one from Don’t Be Naked
and here are some that my friend Erin of Sodafine did for Williamsburg Fashion Week…..
last night seems to have not ended that long ago….
but, at the Mohawk General Store opening (it looks great!) we learned a little more about Generic Man’s new line, Generic Surplus, where pieces run cheap but the design bar is still set high…
hope the grey wingtips above are coming in the ladies sizes.
next, we headed to the new Coffee Pot that’s in the old the kids are alright space, where we were their first customers. they plied us with yummy teas and baked goods until we had to leave.
So now that neighborhood has a wine place, a coffee place, and a couple cute shops….
When we got to the Gen Art sale, it was pretty busy. Ran into Freddie, mastermind of all things Rojas. If you’ve missed him at sales so far this season, fear not, he’s doing Unique LA, too. Pick up what I picked up: his double collar Plaid Trapeze Dress….
then we headed to La Cita, danced a bit, ate tacos. Came home. woke up late….
So a while ago, my friend Ali asked me to help her find the perfect flannel shirt for this fall/winter. I posted the one I liked a bit earlier last month.
However, I didn’t think the shirt was absolutely perfect. In a flannel i want warmth, comfort, and ease, and i want to wear a man flannel, but have it be obvious that I’m a girl.

So I made some that I think are perfect, over jeans, leggings, or tights. We made a little video to show them all above.
All super soft brushed flannels, recycled from men’s shirts.
All in really great patterns and colors.
They are one of a kind and handmade…and at a great price till the end of the holidays…so cozy up…
see them all (and check out my big popomomo sale) at my shopflick store here.
