material concern

today seems to be a time for foreign websites….i was reminded of bata shoes, which was pretty much the only place to procure the to-the-knee-high-heeled-navigate-the-cobblestones-boots that were de riguer in Prague when i lived there.

they still have cute shoes, they are well made, and even though prices have tripled since the early aughts when i lived there, the shoes clock in at around 100 USD.

also, added bonus, you get to shop in a foreign language (little clue: women are damy men are zeny), but then it gets easy:

there’s klasicka (classic), trendova (trendy), komfortni (comfortable), sportovni (sporty) and several other types to choose from.

i came across this cute japanese website….

have you seen a little romance? i love it: i feel like its the (much more tasteful and awesome) predessor to all the dawson’s creek, gilmore girls genre of teens speaking verbosely, and very quickly.

and its romantic and funny and adventuresome and has a classical music soundtrack. and diane lane is in it.

i’m not usually one to critique a celebrity appearance: I do however, have no problem critiquing a styling issue….

on gossip girl, which i only say is excellent and addicting because it is definitely so, the styling is usually impeccable. case in point:

if people dressed this well at my high school i might have had some real competition for most unusually dressed.

however, i digress: what are they doing to vanessa?

she’s a little too skinny to fill out her clothing as of late (she looks okay in this pic) but the items they are putting her in aren’t helping matters. the mess is then topped off with a hearty helping of real bad hair. can some junior stylist on the show start slipping her some cuteness? otherwise i’ll need her to be an even more peripheral character.

I’m not really a candle girl, but i love love love the shampure soy wax candle by aveda. it smells clean and fresh and sophisticated and has organic ingrediants and comes in a recycled glass container.

but there’s a great sale at creatures of comfort….

so i like this band warpaint ( a lot i think) and they were playing all these free sets near our house last month, but i continuous ignored/missed them.

and then when i was trying to find out the next time they would play near us (oct 3rd at the troubadour), i found our that shannyn sossamon is in the band. which isn’t a big deal, but isaac and everyone were like: who’s that. and I know because i know these things in general (she was a dj, got discovered, starred in a knights tale with heath ledger, took some time off, had a baby with a funny name, recently was in wristcutters) but i mostly know because my friend tim from the UK really ‘fancied her’ so he kept me up to date.
and tonight, she walked into the bar i was in, and i considered telling her i liked her band: but i had forgotten the name temporarily:)
