so totally obsessed with Looklet!

why didn’t they have this on nintendo when i was a kid?

you can make outfits from multiple lines…see different angles…pick backgrounds, etc.

if you want it done right

Friday, January 29th, 2010

sometimes you have to do it yourself.

Or , if you want it done asap, maybe more than “right” because i did f-up a couple pieces.

so: Isaac and I drove to the Valley yesterday and I bought an old screenprinter and flash dryer.

My  friend Lauren and I hand printed a bunch of the popomomo samples yesterday in back of the studio.

organic fraud

cotton-fields-3

I think one of the scariest things about being a small eco designer is how much i have to trust other companies: I buy fabric that states its content: organic, recycled, etc, and I dye my fabric in a low impact/eco way….but I don’t have a team to follow up or investigate: I have to take everything at face value.

Now giant H&M and other large companies might have had organic or eco fabric that actually wasn’t…accountability is super weird here…if all fabric had to be organic and sustainably produced we wouldn’t run into these problems. But regardless…this isn’t good news for anyone…full article here via ecouterre.

Experiments of the face

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

so, as you know, I’m a Rimmel 10 Girl, and yesterday I got a bunch of fun stuff to play around with….

yesterday, I tried the ice coffee lipstick and found myself pleasantly surprised by the subtleties of the look: I usually go big one place (strong eye, or strong lip) and go nowhere with the rest (as in naked rest of face).

Today, to emulate all the famous makeup artists who do those great little drawings with the whole look, I did one showing my old go-out look with the two experiments I tried with the Rimmel goodies:

experimentsinmakeup

what do you think, old look or new look?

this is going to be fun!

i got a fun surprise package from Rimmel today.

I spread the goodies on my bed like a teenager and giggled.

Then I headed off to the studio to work on Popomomo’s Fall 10 with my awesome intern Jessica. We’re gearing up for fashion week in NY and have to handprint samples and have a photoshoot this sunday.

We both tried on ICED COFFEE lipstick and I followed up with mascara and eyeliner.

The color looked great on Jess,

but for me it did something I’m not really used to: a subtle look….

which, i guess is an interesting way to experiment: this whole less is more thing I’ve heard about from time to time:)
